About Portico Books

Portico Books, founded in 1998, is committed to helping people enjoy the English language and use it effectively.

Hands-On English, Portico Books' first publication, is a handbook that gives quick access to English fundamentals. It is intended for anyone 9 years of age and older, including adults. Hands-On English is in about 2,000 libraries across the United States and is on at least five continents. It is now in its second printing.

The Hands-On English Activity Book includes activities to help people master the concepts presented in the handbook.

Hands-On Sentences is a card game that helps people understand parts of speech and compose complete, accurate sentences of increasing complexity.

Hands-On Icons is a set of visual aids designed to facilitate the teaching and learning of grammar.
